Coast Guard Tug Reunion 30 September 2010

FELLOW TUGGERS! The plans for our 5th Reunion of the Coast Guard Tug Association have been set! We will be holding our next gathering in the newest Coast Guard City – Rockland, ME. We hope to bring you another memorable experience.

Dates:     Thursday, 30 September – Sunday, 3 October 2010

Location:    Trade Winds Motor Inn, 2 Park Drive, Rockland, ME and  USCG Base, Rockland, USCGC Thunder Bay WTGB 108,          USCGC Tackle, WYTL 65604 (additional vessels may be                               present and available for tours).

Hospitality suite/meeting room, a block of 30 rooms, including complimentary breakfasts, will be provided at the Trade Winds. Additionally, the hotel has an in-house restaurant, a full bar, pool and spa, and marvelous seaside views. The Trade Winds is also located within walking distance of several additional restaurants, and local shopping and attractions.

The cost of the reserved block of rooms will be at $75.00 for standard rooms and $99.00 for Balcony rooms, per night. Depending on registration, additional rooms may be added.

The cost of the banquet/meeting is $21.00 per person (plus tax & gratuities) for a buffet of beef, chicken, veggies, and dessert. If a fish entrée is added, the cost will be $24.00. We will be having a fine Maine Lobster boil on Saturday at the Trade Winds (chowder, 1 ¼ lb lobster, potato, corn, mussels, clams, and blueberry crisp dessert – alternative for non-seafood lovers will be a sirloin steak); the cost will be $29.00 per person.

Joining us at our Friday banquet/meeting will be the Mayor of Rockland, the Honorable Deb McNeil and the Commanding Officer of USCG Sector Northern New England, CAPT James McPherson.

As at previous reunions, attendees will be responsible for making their own individual hotel reservations, travel, (some) local transportation, banquet cost, and any additional, unsponsored events (additional admissions to attractions, etc). For room reservations, call the Trade Winds directly at 207-596-6661 and mention you are with US TUG. Dinner, Lobster Boil, and excursion costs may be paid upon arrival.

Final goodbyes and departure.

As at past reunions, uniforms are an option and encouraged for our events at the Coast Guard Base & Dinner on Friday. With that in mind, any active duty or retired members are welcome to “break out the old sea bag” and attend in their appropriate uniforms.

As we are now a 501 (c) 3 incorporated Association, we need your help to establish a solid treasury. We need your donations to help us finance our Association’s business, support our reunions, assist in “up front” financing for future events and memorabilia, and support the care and restoration of the Apalachee. Any donations to the “cause” would be greatly appreciated and are fully tax deductible!

Hope to see a great turn out in Rockland!
