Hodge Podge Sunday 2 May 2010

Hello all.  Time for another Hodge Podge Sunday.

Mr. Doug Ross has a great post on the Gulf Oil Spill.  He titles it ‘Obama’s Katrina’ an Illustrated Timeline.  It is well worth the read and there are a lot of pictures.

The reference to Katrina is intended to point out the similarity between the Obama Administration’s  failure to take quick action on the oil spill and President Bush getting the blame for the late federal response to Katrina.

There really is no similarity.  President Bush had to wait for the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana to stop playing politics and request federal assistance.  Whereas this oil was a federal issue from the beginning and the Obama Administration failed to take action while playing politics.

Bush takes the blame for something that was initially beyond his control, while Obama procrastinates and gets a free ride in the press as he carefully plans how best to take political advantage of the situation.  Afterall, his motto has been ‘never let a crisis go to waste’.

This will continue to get worse as more and more people are impacted by the spill.  The Democrats, government media and social elites will blame the oil companies and fight for reduced drilling, when it really is their fault that the rig was drilling that deep to begin with.

To explain, the areas the Democrats have allowed drilling were purposely picked with the idea that they were too deep to drill and too costly to be productive.  Whereas, off the coast of California one could simply drop a drill bit and hit oil.  In fact, the oil is leaching up on its own.  Hundreds of barrels a day and the environuts do not care because it is a natural occurence and not man-made.

The mystery to me, in the way the liberal mind works, is why do they hate America so much that they are willing to transfer its’ wealth and power to Middle East countries that will use that wealth and power to destroy us.

It is not about environmentalism.  The liberals and environuts are actually assisting in the destruction of the World’s environment. They force factories here to close and the jobs go overseas where there are no environmental restrictions.  People there simply pollute all they all want, while we continue to pass even stricter environmental laws designed to kill what little manufacturing we have left.    Their plan is to simply kill our country.

The rumors that President Obama had an affair with Ms Vera Baker during his Senate campaign have resurfaced.  According to The National Enquirer there is a video tape and testimony from a limo driver.

A confidential investigation has learned that Obama first became close to gorgeous 35 year-old VERA BAKER in 2004 when she worked tirelessly to get him elected to the US Senate, raising millions in campaign contributions.   While Baker has insisted in the past that “nothing happened” between them, the ENQUIRER has learned that top anti-Obama operatives are offering more than $1 million to witnesses to reveal what they know about the alleged hush-hush affair.

Among those being offered money is a limo driver who says that he took Vera to a secret hotel rendezvous where the President was staying.  On the condition of anonymity, the limo driver said he took Baker “from a friend’s home in the DC area to the Hotel George where I learned later that Obama would be spending the night.” The driver recalled that he “waited in the lobby while she went to change her outfit.”But to the best of my knowledge she did not have a room at the hotel and she was not staying there so I thought that it was a bit odd.”

The driver said he then picked up Obama at the airport and drove both he and Baker to various locations while he was campaigning for funds. Vera accompanied him to each meeting. “About 10:30 PM, I drove them to the hotel and they went in together!”  “My services for the evening were done – and there was no indication she was going to leave the hotel that night.”

While I give The National Enquirer points for breaking the pretty boy Edwards story that the lame stream media ignored.  I believe this is simply a new take on earlier story that ran during the presidential campaign.

The rumor at the time was that Ms Michelle Obama had Ms Vera Baker sent out of the country to avoid the embarrassment and keep her away from the press during the campaign.  Of course ABC had this story and did not run it.

Ms Peggy Noonan has an article in The Wall Street Journal titled The Big Alienation uncontrolled boarders and Washington’s lack of self-control.

We are at a remarkable moment. We have an open, 2,000-mile border to our south, and the entity with the power to enforce the law and impose safety and order will not do it. Wall Street collapsed, taking Main Street’s money with it, and the government can’t really figure out what to do about it because the government itself was deeply implicated in the crash, and both political parties are full of people whose political careers have been made possible by Wall Street contributions. Meanwhile we pass huge laws, bills so comprehensive, omnibus and transformative that no one knows what’s in them and no one—literally, no one—knows how exactly they will be executed or interpreted. Citizens search for new laws online, pore over them at night, and come away knowing no more than they did before they typed “dot-gov.”

It is not that no one’s in control. Washington is full of people who insist they’re in control and who go to great lengths to display their power. It’s that no one takes responsibility and authority. Washington daily delivers to the people two stark and utterly conflicting messages: “We control everything” and “You’re on your own.”

Ms Noonan goes on to point out the reason the State of Arizona had to take action on its’ own in order protect their citizens.

Which brings us to Arizona and its much-criticized attempt to institute a law aimed at controlling its own border with Mexico. It is doing this because the federal government won’t, and because Arizonans have a crisis on their hands, areas on the border where criminal behavior flourishes, where there have been kidnappings, murders and gang violence.

But the larger point is that Arizona is moving forward because the government in Washington has completely abdicated its responsibility. For 10 years—at least—through two administrations, Washington deliberately did nothing to ease the crisis on the borders because politicians calculated that an air of mounting crisis would spur mounting support for what Washington thought was appropriate reform—i.e., reform that would help the Democratic and Republican parties.

The article is a very good read and points to the lack of federal protection offered the State of Arizona and the political lack of will to close the border being displayed by our elected officials in Washington DC.

As I stated in an earlier article this is not about civil rights, this is about the rule of law.  People cannot be allowed to pick and choose which laws they will abide by.  That is anarchy.

Former Senator Fred Thompson says he is more concerned when President Obama’s ‘Real Thoughts Come Out’.  This is in regards to the Socialist comments the President makes whenever he speaks off teleprompter.

Of course the President denies that he is a Socialist.  I am not sure why he runs from the term when he has spent the majority of his adult life in support of Socialist initiatives.

During a commencement speech at the University of Michigan President Thin Skin squeaked “Throwing around phrases like ’socialist’ and ‘Soviet-style takeover;’ ‘fascist’ and ‘right-wing nut’ may grab headlines, but it also has the effect of comparing our government, or our political opponents, to authoritarian, and even murderous regimes.”

Hmmm, that sounds bi-partisan enough.  If only he would live up to such comments and not push for government takeover of every facit of our daily lives, I probably wouldn’t call him a Socialist either.  But, since I call them as I see them, Barrack Obama you are a Socialist.  Live with it 🙂

Well folks I would love to write more, but time has limits and I have that day job thing.   Of course, it would not be Hodge Podge if I left you without something funny.

This is a video of our country’s finest blowing off steam.  It also proves something I have been saying for quite some time.  There is absolutely no reason to change our  ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy.   Not that I am saying these guys are gay, or anything 🙂  Not that there is anything wrong with that 🙂

Ever walk past the graveyard and get the feeling that some ghoul on a motorcycle is right behind you.  No?  Me either, but it is funny watching it happen to someone else.

Have a great day folks 🙂
