Volvo S60 Collision Avoidance System Epic Fail

Spending years in development, millions in technology and product testing, arranging a theatrical demonstration for a World media that can make or break your product’s reputation, then having it fail miserably, priceless.

This is the new Volvo S60 with collision avoidance technology.  The car is designed to monitor the relative speed and deceleration of the vehicle in front of you in traffic, accelerate or decelerate in order to maintain a safe braking distance and most importantly, stop before slamming into the rear end of the vehicle in front of you.

As you can see from the video, it works about as well as our current administration’s terrorist monitoring program.

Mr. Thomas Broberg, Senior Safety Adviser at Volvo, states ‘this car has collision avoidance technology that we did not demonstrate during this test’.   Okay, that must be similar to our country’s anti-terrorist program that we didn’t demonstrate with the NYC bomber.

Gee, this guy likes to state the obvious.  I guess they called all those people together to show them how nicely the bumper wrinkles when it slams into a truck.  All he needs to do now is say ‘the system worked’ and he could be the US Secretary of Homeland Security.  Of course, some of the video is not in English, so maybe that is what he is saying.

By White House and lame stream media standards the system worked as planned.  Nothing to see here folks, buy that Volvo S60 and enjoy the comfort and security of those new safety features 🙂
